Cross country teams post strong finishes at home meet

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Columbus State men's and women's cross country teams finished strong on at their first-ever home meet, held at the Delaware Campus Cross Country Course on Saturday.

The men were paced by freshmen Cody Null and Adam Glass who finished 10th and 11th respectively. Null clocked a 29:31 and Glass a 29:36 in the eight-kilometer race. Sophomore Jesus Davis crossed the line third for the team and 20th overall with a time of 32:30 while Thomas Shaw finished in 22nd with a time of 33:01.

Unattached runner Mike Matuszak won the race with a time of 27:04.

For the women, newcomer Laura Hill cross the line first at 25:56 for a 13th place finish in the six-kilometer race. Freshmen Alex Ortega and Elizabeth Finley finished close behind Hill with a 26:15 (15th) and 26:24 (16th) respectively. Sophomore Emily Howard finished 22nd with a 27:15 time.

Mackenzie Meyers of Capital University won the race with a time of 24:02.

The Cougars return to action Fri, Sep. 30 when they compete in the All-Ohio Meet hosted by Cedarville University. Women's race starts at 2:00, men's at 2:45.
