Title: Chair, Departments of Sport & Exercise Studies and Hospitality, Intercollegiate Athletics, and College Recreation & Wellness

Dr. Curt Laird serves as the Chair of the Departments of Sport & Exercise Studies and Hospitality, Intercollegiate Athletics, and College Recreation and Wellness. As a proud alum (95) of the Sport and Exercise Studies Program, Curt returned to Columbus State in 2015 with a wealth of experience in higher education. He has held a combination of instructional and administrative roles at Wingate University (NC), the University of Charleston (WV), Winthrop University (SC), and Ohio University.

In addition to his responsibilities at Columbus State, Dr. Laird also serves on the Board of Commissioners for Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA), a national agency charged with accreditation for the sport management discipline. Moreover, he led two successful accreditation efforts for his own programs at Wingate (2013) and Winthrop Universities (2012). Dr. Laird’s primary area of research is assessment in higher education, but he is also practiced in curriculum development. A native of Groveport, Ohio, Curt is excited about returning to the area and working at his alma mater Columbus State.
