COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus State men's basketball team (14-4, 5-2 OCCAC) defeated Lorain County 87-77 in a back-and-forth-battle at home on Saturday afternoon.
Four Cougars scored double digit points including Kenneth Moore with 15, Nic Williams with 14, Robert Caldwell with 12, and Rodney Willis with 11. Both Williams and Willis recorded career-high blocks with three and four respectively.
Patrick Ngene-Igwe was the lone Cougar in double figure rebounds with 11.
Other contributors were Donte Smith with nine points and two rebounds, John Montgomery with seven rebounds and nine rebounds, Lamarr Barnes with seven points and six rebounds, Chris Byrd with six points and three rebounds, and Johnnie Robinson with five points and one rebound.
As a team, the Cougars shot 38.4% compared to the slightly better Commodores at 39.7% but managed to out-rebound Lorain County 45-37. Columbus State's bench proved dominant with the Cougars scoring 34 points compared to Lorain's mere 4 points.
