Men's basketball picks up another win against Tri-C

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Columbus State men's basketball team (19-5, 9-3 OCCAC) picked up a conference win on Wednesday in another close game against the Cuyahoga Challengers.

The Cougars pulled off the 72-69 victory shooting 50% from the three-point line (8-for-16) and 76.2% (16-for-21) from the free throw line.

Freshman guard Rodney Willis (pictured right) led the Cougars with 21 points, including four three-pointers as well as six rebounds. Nic Williams added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds while Chris Byrd came off the bench to sink in nine points and grab three rebounds for the Cougars.

Starters Robert Caldwell, Kenneth Moore, and Lamarr Barnes tallied eight points apiece. Barnes pulled down seven rebounds and collected a team-high three steals while Moore dished out a team-high four assists.

Rounding out the scoring was Travon Hester with five points and Johnnie Robinson with two points.

The Cougars will host Owens Community College at Otterbein University on Sat, Feb. 13 at 5:00 p.m.
