COLUMBUS, Ohio – NJCAA DIII's best men's golf programs are set to compete at the 2017 NJCAA DIII Golf Championships June 6-9 in Chautauqua, New York. Jamestown Community College is hosting the tournament.

The tournament kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at the Chautauqua Golf Club with one round being played each day. After the final round on Friday, June 9, an awards ceremony will take place where the team and individual champion will be announced.

Coach Rocky Nelson expressed his excitement for this team. "The team will compete the way they have competed all season. I am very satisfied with the way our men are playing. This team is smart, and play within themselves. I am pleased with the way they have conducted themselves during competition."

The Lake Course at Chautauqua Golf Club is a par 72, 6,535 yard traditional Donald Ross golf course. According to Coach Nelson, it's a "natural, unspoiled golf course that is laid out using the features of the original terrain. The player must understand what the terrain requires in order to post a good score."

Thirteen teams out of ten regions will be competing for a national title, in addition to the individual region champions (not on the winning team) who earned an automatic bid. Qualifying teams are listed in the below chart. Columbus State is representing Region XII, an area that covers Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

The team will depart on Sunday, June 4 for two practice rounds prior to official competition. "Playing in this tournament is an opportunity these young men have worked very hard for," said Nelson. This will be an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives."
