Cougars Race at Ohio Wesleyan Invitational

POWELL, Ohio -- The Columbus State men's and women's cross country teams continue to improve their race times as shown at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday morning. The Cougars competed in a field of 18 teams at Liberty Park.

Leading the way for the men's team was sophomore Adam Glass, who posted a time of 28:37.4 in the eight kilometer race. USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week Aaron Kennelly wrapped up his run in 30:05.7.

Three freshmen had times toward the team score. Laithe Abu-Obeid crossed the finish line in 31:59.5 while Garrett Lafferty and Romell Curry ran their races in 32:38.7 and 33:10.7 respectively.

Also running the 8k was sophomore Zach Leahy, who finished with a time of 34:11.7 and freshman Anthony Gripper, who completed his race in 35:23.3.

The men finished in 17th place in the field of NCAA DII and DIII teams.

On the women's side, sophomore Elizabeth Finley led Columbus State with a time of 28:48.5 in the 5k race. Also competing was sophomore Madeline Bodie, who crossed the line at 29:07.2.

Next up, the Cougars will train during an off week to prepare for their home invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Columbus State's Delaware Campus.
