TIFFIN, Ohio - Sophomore Rafaella Gioffre paced the women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Heidelberg University Invitational at Mohawk Country Club.
The Cougars had a two-day, 36-hole score of 716 strokes. After the first 18 holes, Columbus State led the tournament by ten strokes with a 353. Their 363 team score in the final moved them to a second place finish behind Ohio Northern, who led the six-team field with a 709 (+125). Lourdes finished third with a 746 (+162).
Ohio Northern's Heather Comer closed with back-to-back 83s for 20-over par, beating out Gioffre by two strokes for low medalist.
Gioffre had a two-day total of 166 (83-83) strokes for an individual second place finish in the player standings. Freshman Sydney Kelly shared fourth-place with a 178 (88-90). Sophomore Kellie Feehan had a 182 (86-96), while Sean Pusey carded a 188 (91-97). Claudia Podolski finished her two rounds in 201 (100-101) strokes.

Columbus State returns to the course Saturday, October 10 for the Mount Vernon Nazarene Invitational. The tournament is at Chapel Hill Golf Course in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
