Cougar Volleyball Cruises to Three-Set Sweep of Hocking

NELSONVILLE, Ohio – The No. 10 Columbus State volleyball team (2-1) cruised past the Hocking Hawks (0-2) 25-15, 25-18, 25-11 in a three set sweep on Wednesday night.

Morgan Danec and Abigail Lucas fired up the offense with nine kills apiece while Allyse Rutter and Leah Conway knocked down four kills each. Rachel Ralston and Georgia Payne contributed three and two kills respectively with no errors. Payne also had a game-high .500 attack percentage.

Rutter and Vicki Osborne dishing out a combined 22 assists in the effort. Osborne also tied her career-high of three service aces while Danec and Lucas each chipped in an ace.

Leading the defensive effort was Haley Litman who scooped up 20 digs, followed by Olivia Dunham's ten. Rutter tallied eight digs, Lucas registered seven, and Ralston added six. Lucas also led the team with three blocks.

Next up the Cougars head to Perrysburg, Ohio to compete in the Owens Invitational Fri, Sep. 1 – Sat, Sep. 2. First serve is at 11:45 a.m. versus Henry Ford Community College.
