COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Cougars defeated the Sinclair Tartan Pride in a five-set conference battle on the home court on Wednesday night. Columbus State now stands at 6-2, 3-1 OCCAC while the Pride fall to 2-7, 1-2 OCCAC.
The win comes after two 3-1 losses last season against the DII conference rival. Final set scores were 28-30, 25-22, 25-16, 21-25, 15-10.
Exceptional defense was key in the victory, holding Sinclair to a .128 attack percentage. Racking up career-bests were Olivia Dunham and Haley Litman with 38 digs and 34 digs respectively. Abigail Lucas put down a career and game-high eight blocks, including three solo and five assisted.
On offense, Allyse Rutter registered her second triple-double of the season with 12 kills, 23 assists, and 14 digs, along with a season-high five stuffs. Osborne matched her teammate's 23 helpers while adding ten digs for her third straight double-double.
Morgan Danec tallied 11 kills while Lucas recorded ten in offensive effort. Georgia Payne and Leah Conway also posted solid offensive performances with eight and six kills respectively. Rachel Ralston added a season-high seven kills along with ten assists.
The Cougars return to action on Fri, Sep. 8 when they host a tri-match featuring Clark State Community College and Ohio University-Chillicothe.
