WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Columbus State women's cross country team competed in the Otterbein University Invitational on Saturday held at the Lehman XC Course. The meet hosted 219 runners from twenty colleges. The Cougars finished 17th overall in the six kilometer course.
Stevie Shepherd was first to cross the finish line for Columbus State, shaving nearly a minute off of her time at Otterbein last year. She ran a career-best 26:22.1 for a 72nd place finish.
Alexandria Ortega grabbed a 115th place finish with 27:33.9 while Emily Howard and Elizabeth Finley finished in 27:53.3 and 27:55.3 respectively. Howard trimmed over 40 seconds from last year's meet off of her time.
Madeline Bodie rounded out the scoring, finishing in 30:48.8 for 188th place.
Sarah Fowler of Ohio Wesleyan University won the race in 22:53.8 while Otterbein nabbed the top prize as a team.
The Cougars are back in action on Sat, Sep. 24 when they host the Columbus State invitational at the Delaware Campus.
