CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Columbus State women's cross country team finished 36th at the 2016 All-Ohio Championships held at Cedarville University on Friday.
The six-kilometer race featured 43 teams from all three divisions of the NCAA, NAIA as well as NJCAA DIII. Sophomore Stevie Shepherd paced the Cougars by finishing third among NJCAA runners and 190th in the 296-person field, crossing the line in 25:31.9. Freshman Laura Hill followed in 215th place with a time of 25:53.2, while freshman Alexandria Ortega checked in at 26:03.7 for a 221st place finish.
Sophomore Emily Howard and freshman Elizabeth Finley rounded out the scoring, finishing in 26:49.6 and 27:14.4, respectively. Madeline Bodie completed the Cougar lineup at the All-Ohio event with a 28:24.5 finish.
Miami University won the meet while University of Dayton, Cedarville University, Ohio State University, and Wright State University rounded out the top five. Miami's Maria Scavuzzo captured the overall individual title with a 21:28.8 finish. Cuyahoga's Caroline Lapish was the top NJCAA finisher with a 24:06 pace for 104th place.
The Cougars return to action on October 14 when they travel to Wilmington College. The race is scheduled to begin at 4:30p.m.
